Bradford Chesstival in the Park
Chess players and non-players alike are invited to attend Bradford Chesstival, a new event for City Park, bringing together chess on a grand scale with artistic and cultural activities, including music, dancing and children’s activities. The main events will be 5 Grandmasters and International Masters each taking on 25 players in a simultaneous exhibition and a 125 board match, as well as giant chess sets and an opportunity to learn chess for beginners upwards.
This is a free event which has been organised in memory of the late Marsha Singh, MP for Bradford West and chess player.
Yes, you could play a simultaneous game for FREE against one of five titled players, including last year’s British Champion Gawain Jones!
The Bradford and District Chess Association and Bradford Council have been working incredibly hard to organise what will be a chess event in the centre of Bradford on a huge scale! The Chesstival celebrates the 125th anniversary of the famous Bradford Tournament of 1888, the first major chess tournament outside of London. It also commemorates the passing of the late Marsha Singh MP who will be remembered during the event.
The Chesstival will be taking place in City Park, home to the largest man-made water feature in any UK city! It is situated right in the centre of Bradford, close to the Town Hall and the National Media Museum.
We are proud to announce more details about the amazing events that will be happening at the Chesstival!
