The Leeds Rapidplay league runs for six rounds on Wednesday nights during the evening league season. Players have around 30 minutes to complete all their moves and play two games against their opponent with reverse colours. This is much more fast-paced than typical games where both players have 90 minutes for all the moves.

After the first four rounds of this season’s competition, four teams are tied with three wins and one loss each – Rose Forgrove 1, Moortown 1, Pudsey 1 and Leeds CCCC 1. Pudsey have enjoyed considerable success in recent years but were soundly beaten by Moortown in the latest round of fixtures. Peter Rooney made a memorable debut convincingly defeating Mike Bramson 2-0 in their match. Rose Forgrove’s most impressive result was their 6-0 demolition of Leeds CCCC with Mike Round, Warren Dennison and Ian Hunter showing no mercy. The next round of fixtures will see Rose Forgrove facing Moortown and Pudsey taking on Leeds City Centre.

Today’s puzzle comes from the Elite Mind Games Rapidplay Championships being held in China where many of the world’s top players are competing.
