Last weekend saw the final round of the Yorkshire leagues take place. There were still a few remaining issues to be decided.

In the Woodhouse Cup, York RI A had a comfortable victory against Hull DCA A to finish the season with a perfect 11 wins out of 11 fixtures. This is the first time this has been achieved since the 2013-14 season, when Bradford A made the perfect score. Gavyn Cooper scored the most points over the season for them with 8/9 while Detlef Plump got 7/8. At the other end, York RI B failed to beat Bradford A so their relegation was sealed along with Bradford Central whose win against 3rd placed Calderdale A was too little too late.

The IM Brown title was very tightly fought between York RI C and Sheffield B. York RI C were recipients of an 8-0 default win, while Sheffield B beat Bradford B 6-2. This remarkably left both teams on the same league points and board count, which meant that the result of the fixture between the two teams was now relevant. As York won this fixture 5-3 back on December 5th, they are the league champions. Sheffield can console themselves with the fact that they are still promoted and will be playing top division chess next season.
