This week we continue with our coverage of Division 3 North of the 4NCL, reviewing the seasons of the other Yorkshire clubs, but first, an update from last week. After the last column went to press, Bradford A beat first-placed Alba 4-2 thanks to wins by Richard Allis and Chris Bak. They fell just short of overtaking Alba for 1st place, which would have been achieved with a 4.5-1.5 victory. Today’s puzzle is taken from this match.

Bradford DCA Knights B were close to joining their A team in the Promotion Pool, their most impressive result in the Pool stages was their narrow 3.5-2.5 defeat to the dominant Alba with wins by Arron Barker and Tony Slinger over much higher-rated opposition bringing them close to a huge upset. The B team entered the D pool in first place a did not relinquish this, their only blemish being a 3-3 draw in their derby against Jorvik.

Jorvik, who unsurprisingly come from York, acquitted themselves well in a strong division. While their performance in the first half did not yield many points, they performed well in the final two weekends to finish in joint 4th place along with Bradford DCA Knights C. Bradford C also had a successful final two weekends, moving up from 7th to 4th place with Damian McCarthy and Peter Braham particularly excelling. The 2016-17 season starts in late November.
