Last week we reported on Division 1 of the Four Nations Chess League. This week focuses on Division 3 North, containing sixteen teams from the North of England, Isle of Man and Scotland. Yorkshire has three teams from Bradford and one from York.

Bradford A have bounced between Divisions 2 and 3 in previous years and are one of six or seven teams with a realistic chance of promotion. They won both their matches to get off to a perfect start.

Bradford B beat their C team and drew their other match while the C team and Jorvik failed to win a match. Today’s puzzle comes from the A team’s crucial victory in their second match.
